Creating a Purpose Driven Leadership Identity Post Merger
Results at a Glance
- Defined team purpose, guiding principles & behaviours
- Built clarity on strategic priorities and scope
- Created sub-groups to advance transformation pillars
- Improved collaboration speed and reduced meeting fatigue
Challenge
A newly merged leadership team of high-performing experts was tasked with spearheading transformation for a global business — while maintaining day-to-day performance. Diverse backgrounds, different leadership styles, and competing priorities made unity and pace difficult.
Solution
Through a two-day immersive group coaching event, we:
- Created space for honest dialogue without dwelling on past challenges
- Aligned on the principles and purpose of the leadership team
- Identified “what’s in/out of scope” for leadership discussions
- Established norms and behaviours with clear accountability
Sub-groups were formed to progress key transformation pillars, ensuring discussions moved from updates to decisions.
Outcome
The team left with shared clarity, mutual respect for differences, and a united focus on transformation priorities. The initial workshop became a feeder for multiple ongoing agendas and workstreams, sustaining alignment and momentum over the year ahead.
“We’re now one team, not a group of individuals. The clarity and speed we have gained is game-changing.” — Senior Leader
