Founder Story

I founded NewlandRock in 2021 during a time of global transition — and my own. After two decades in senior leadership and talent strategy roles. Over time, I saw the same truth again and again — it’s the effectiveness of leaders that determines whether change becomes growth. But I also saw how often leaders face pivotal moments of change without the right tools or frameworks to thrive.

That realisation was the spark for NewlandRock. I wanted to create a space where leadership development wasn’t abstract, but practical, evidence-led, and rooted in real experience. Since then, we’ve built a CPD-accredited coaching framework, published The Four Levers of Leadership Impact, and partnered with leaders and teams worldwide to help them unlock growth through transition.

Hi! I'm Kate Thomas, founder of NewlandRock - and for more than 20 years' I've been immersed in talent strategy, succession planning and leadership effectiveness. Over that time, I've partnered with senior leaders, and executive teams across the UK and globally to help them clarify direction, build strong cultures, and lead with more confidence and impact. 

My career has spanned multiple geographies and sectors, spending significant time supporting organisations undergoing transformation and growth at pace including several years at Korn Ferry.

  • We are all talented but we don't always know where are talents are best served. 
  • Leadership effectiveness is the gateway to performance - impactful leadership starts with self awareness and lived values. 
  • Evidence-led approaches create sustainable change - my coaching and assessments are rooted in behavioural science. 
  • Leaders feel most alive when they're re-learning about themselves - not just developing skills, but understanding what drives them and holds them back.

This isn't theoretical. I'm passionate and highly committed to the leaders I work with.  I've seen shifts in energy, clarity, and impact when a leaders realigns with their core purpose, identifies what opportunities they stand for a break free from limiting beliefs regarding the business opportunities available to them and the business they lead.
